Land Rover Discovery 4 Rack, Roof Top Tent & Awning Installation
The fittings keep on coming and whilst I get a spare few minutes I will try and share as many of them as I can with you.
Todays featured installation is of this Land Rover Discovery 4. Our customer wanted to turn their SUV into a mobile camper.
To install the Front Runner Slimline 2 Roof Rack, first you need to remove the OE bars. This is a fairly straight forward job on the Discovery 4 with the majority of the bolts quite accessible and the end caps easy to remove to reveal the rest of the bolts. Once removed the area where the bars were is cleaned and then silicone around the holes to ensure the roof stays water tight. The feet are then installed into the pre-existing holes before laying the bed of the rack on top and bolting up.
Using the Front Runner Tent Mount Kit, the Darche Roof Top Tent was next to be installed. Coming over the rear of the vehicle this allows the customer too access their tailgate and load area from within the annex room of the tent. The Darche 180 Awning was next to be fitted on the passengers side of the vehicle. The majority of awnings that we fit here in the UK are installed on the passenger side. This is so that if you are ever looking for a quick stop, maybe for a picnic or a drink, then all you need to do is pull to the side of the road and your awning can be opened up on to the verge beside.
Once opened the Darche 180 Awning will span from almost the front of the vehicle to the end of the roof tent once that is open. This gives the customer a large sheltered area (which can have an optional wall set attached if required). The full set up includes a multi roomed, multi floored camping set making this Discovery 4 a comfortable home away from home.
