Isuzu D-Max Roof Rack and Darche Hi-View 1600 Roof Tent
When it comes to fitting roof racks to Pick Up vehicles drilling is sometimes required, just like on the previous Toyota Hilux post, however when it comes to Isuzu D-max, the roof already has pre-existing nutserts installed. This makes installation a lot easier. After measuring and marking the ditch moulding in the correct places, using tin snips, cut away the unnecessary material. This should reveal the location of the nutserts in the roof. They will be hidden by some protective tape but this can be carefully broken or removed to show the threaded hole.
When the nutserts are visible, silicone around the hole and place the spacers (if required) and legs in place and tighten up. Everything should be aligned and should fasten up relatively easily. If they do not fasten up easily, DO NOT force the bolt. If you do force the bolt you are likely to strip the thread of the bolt or the nutsert and this is only going to cause problems.
Once the legs are in place, place the roof rack tray on the legs and tighten up, making sure that the rack is central and straight inline with your vehicle.
As the Front Runner roof racks have a lip around the edge, installation of the Darche Hi View Roof Tent can be made easier by using the Front Runner Tent Mounting kit. This lifts the tent up to the height of the edge of the roof rack ensuring that neither the rack or tent get damaged whilst the tent is in use.
